Luke is well aware that stories documenting the life of Jesus exist, yet as a historian and highly educated individual, he feels compelled to conduct an investigation of his own. Delving into Jesus' past would take time - possibly years. Thanks to funding he receives from a successful man (Theophilus), Luke is able to work the investigation full-time. Carefully and tediously, Luke embarks on an exhaustive journey to provide "an orderly account" of Jesus' life and ministry.
Luke interviews Jesus' family, seeks out His personal friends, talks to individuals in the crowds who heard Jesus' teachings, takes statements from eyewitnesses to Jesus' miracles, and tracks down Jesus' surviving disciples.
